Freedom is Slavery

While going to and fro in London and going up and down in the city, I was warned by a preacher about the “evils” of indulgence. That trying to live your life your way, no matter how responsible you are makes you a “slave” to your desires. People who know me my indulgences can vary greatly. True I enjoy lustful activities. But I also like reading, walking, sightseeing, eating tasty foods, drinking beverages alcoholic or not. I can’t see enjoying my life as slavery. To me, slavery is having to give up your pleasures to serve a master, be it a god or a worldly being. Too many “Thou shalt not”s for my liking. Believe in what you want and do as you please, but don’t call me a slave for being free, and don’t sell me slavery packaged as freedom. In fact, why don’t you try some of the “forbidden fruit” yourself? Try to enjoy life a bit. You won’t surely die if you live for at least one day.
